Bringing our heroes to life

As part of our World War One topic, 'Fallen Fields' we are giving ourselves a massive project. We are attempting to find out as much as we can about those who fell in battle in WW1 whose names can be found on the Llanharan War memorial on Hillside Avenue.

We all walk past it everyday but how much do we know about those people who gave the ultimate sacrifice?

This is going to be a massive task to find out information. We are hoping the people in the community and beyond will be able to help us with information.

We want to find out:

How did they die?
What was their service number?
When were they born?
When did they die?
Where in Llanharan did they live?
How old were they when they died?
Does anyone in Llanharan have any connections or information about these men?
Where are they buried?
Please help us, as we think they should be celebrated.

The names of those on the memorial are:

Lieutenant James Griffith Williams
2nd Lieutenant Jack Evans
Corporal William James Jones
Driver Edward Brown
Driver Henry Farnham
Gunner Sidney Worgan
Private David H. Worgan
