Writing inspired by watching 'Dracula's Whitby'

As part of our author focus study of Room 13 by Robert Swindells, we watched a short animated film called 'Dracula's Whitby' by The Flying Buttress Productions'.

We discussed what words came to our mind when watching certain parts of the films, then used online thesaurus to find appropriate synonyms to stretch our vocabulary.

We then wrote a 1st person diary account of walking up the path to the Abbey as if we were in the film.

Visit from Aardman Animation model maker Jim Parkyn

We were incredibly lucky to have a visit from Jim Parkyn, a senior model maker from Aardman Animation this morning to teach us how to make a model of Hognob from Early Man. This was an amazing experience and allowed the pupils to see how they can turn a block of clay into a character from the screen.

We were also joined by three pupils and a member of staff from our close neighbours Brynnau Primary.

In the afternoon, we then had a go at creating a few short stop-frame animation films using our models.
