Dumplings

In our ongoing mission of immersing ourselves into the language and culture of Chinese life, today we made (and ate) dumplings with Miss Song.

This was the first time that the vast majority of our class had either made or eaten dumplings before.

Miss Song demonstrated how add the mixture to the dumpling, making sure we put it in the centre and not over-filled it. If we over-filled the dumpling, then they would explode!

Miss Song also showed us different ways of rolling out the dough, with some of us trying out these methods.

Once our production line of dumpling making stations had finished, Miss Song took them to boil them.

After some cooking time, we then got the opportunity to try our finished goods. These were accompanied by Soy sauce. Everyone tried a dumpling, which was pleasing.

On the whole, the majority of the class found the dumplings to be delicious. Those who found them to be less appealing were a bit put off by the texture, or in most cases, the flavour of the Soy sauce.

Here are some photos of our experience.
