Moving Cam Toys

As part of the design technology element of our Scream Machine topic, we have been learning about cams and how to make moving toys.

The pupils came up with a number of single ascending, off-centred cam designs before settling on a favourite. They then made their cam feature and background and attached it to the class cam box.

Biographical writing - Bram Stoker

To finish our short block of biographical writing study, we wrote biographies about Bram Stoker. Here are some pieces.

Bowls Taster Session

We went to a bowls taster session today at Pontyclun in conjunction with Sport RCT. We all had a fantastic time learning new skills and becoming enthused with a sport new to most of the class. Here are some photos and videos of our morning.

My Robotic Friend

We have practiced using simple robotics via the activity 'My Robotic Friend'. This allowed pupils to play around with simple algorithms used to control a human robot.

Pupils were divided into programmers and robots. The programmers were given a set of instruction codes and patterns to attempt to write a programme or algorithm to give to their robot. The robot, not having seen the pattern, then had to follow the code and make a pattern whilst stacking cups, which hopefully matched that of their programmers.
